For over 20 years, we have worked closely with each patient to effectively and safely give them the holistic care they deserve.
Chinese herbalism has been practised for thousands of years. It works by re-establishing the natural balance and harmony in the body to improve wellness and treat a range of conditions.
Over 1,800 herbs can be used to safely and effectively treat patients as either a preventative or restorative measure for a range of conditions. Our trained herbalists combine them to create a formula tailored to the patient, increasing the effectiveness of the treatment.
While it can be used separately, it is often used in conjunction with acupuncture.
We commonly use Chinese herbs to treat a wide variety of patients with symptoms, including:
What should I expect?
Initial consultations start with a review of the patient’s medical history, an evaluation current health needs, and discussion about the goals.
Your practitioner will look to identify the cause of any problems or imbalances and then determine the most appropriate single herbs or herbal formulas, form, dosage, and frequency.
Treating the patient as an individual is at the core of Chinese herbal medicine and is vital in successfully assisting the body to rebalance itself.
How are herbs taken?
Traditionally, Chinese herbs were taken as a drink by boiling up dried herbs. These days, our clinic provides the same herbs in one of three forms, which are equally effective and do not require preparation time:
Are there side effects?
As opposed to Western medications, herbal medicine is a natural treatment that enhances your body’s own ability to heal itself. As a result, negative side effects are minor and extremely rare compared to pharmaceuticals and surgery.
Additionally, we always perform a detailed initial consultation to ensure we find the right herbs and/or herb formulas for you.
How much do herbs cost?
The cost of the herbs varies, so it is difficult to give an accurate answer prior to consultation, but a typical powder formula costs from £25 for a 10-14 day supply. (The cost of the herbal medicine is in addition to the consultation).
